We are impressed with the longevity of many of the solar thermal systems we see on today’s homes. When repairs are needed, they often are just in need of a replacement expansion tank or circulator pump. Generally, we can do a system evaluation in under an hour, identify what failed component(s) need to be replaced and sometimes complete the repair on the same site visit. On occasion, a system may need a more specialized part, at which point we can usually source the part and get it installed within the same week. System evaluations start at $200 not including the cost of travel. We generate a detailed write-up of the system’s functionality and additionally an itemized estimate of recommended repairs. Our labor rate for repairs, upgrades, maintenance, and new installations is $125/hour and we charge an additional $100/hr for one direction of travel. If the job is more than an hour away from our office we bill for both directions.
