Boulder County is now offering commercial Climate Smart loans. Applications are due March 29, with work set to begin early May, after the bonds are sold. This is a great time to look at energy efficient improvements for your business, apartment complex or rental units. Qualified properties include: non-profits, apartment buildings, small manufacturing facilities and multi-family, low-income or elderly housing. Aqua Care Solar can help you with many of your energy efficient improvements, including: installing efficient water heaters; tankless water heaters; heat pumps; efficient boilers; radiant heating and cooling; pipe insulation; duct sealing; as well as installing solar thermal heating and solar electric systems. All of these measures qualify for the Climate Smart loan program and can offer your property significant energy savings.
Climate Smart also offers you energy assessments to give you a clear idea of how your property can benefit financially from energy improvements. According to Climate Smart:
Businesses contribute the largest share of Boulder County's greenhouse gas emissions. Climate Smart at Work programs offer free and low-cost services to the Boulder County business community to promote energy efficiency, renewable energy and stimulate the economy.
PACE EnergySmart for Business is one of the services they offer. It's a free service to small businesses that includes a building energy assessment. They'll also help you find the right contractor for your energy efficient equipment installation.
Climate Smart commercial loans are available to any property in Boulder County, except for Erie, which opted out of the program. All improvements must be fixed to the property, since the loan transfers with the sale of the property to the new owner. Your property still qualifies for any rebates and tax credits and will not affect the amount of your loan, with the exception of XCEL rebates. Those will be deducted from the amount requested.
If you're thinking of making energy efficient improvements to your property now is the time. Contact our offices at 303-589-4428 to learn more about the loan program, rebates and tax credits.
One final note: According to Climate Smart, the next round of residential loans will be available by mid-March. Check back here as we will post the new residential loan information as soon as it is available.
